Pianist, Composer, Mountaineer

Pianist and composer. Daniel Grupa was born in 1975 in Sulechów. At the age of seventeen, he started working at the Dramatic Theater in Kalisz ("Threepenny Opera" directed by J. Buchwald, "I'm Red Lola" directed by T. Wiśniewski). The first performances of the composition - Concertino for piano and string orchestra and for string quartet - also premiered in Kalisz. He studied composition at the Academy of Music in Poznań and musicology at the University of Poznań. Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań. Lover and enthusiast of mountains. He climbed in the Alps and Tatra Mountains, in winter in Czech icefalls and in Śnieżne Kotły. He conquered the peaks of the Caucasus: Kazbek (5,054 m above sea level) and Tetnuldi (4,858 m above sea level). In the High Tauern Mountains he climbed Grossglockner. (3,798 meters above sea level) During an expedition to Mera Peak in the Himalayas, he reached above 6,200 meters. For many years he has been collaborating with many artists of the Polish and foreign music scene (Małgorzata Ostrowska, Anna Wyszkoni, Marek Jackowski, Stanisław Soyka, Piotr Cugowski, Virgil Donati), writes music for film, theater and radio plays ("The Day I Die" dir. G. Lipiec, "Closed in Celluloid" dir. W. Sikora, "Grun de Berg. Wyzwoenie" dir. M. Malinowski and M. Olechnowski, "The Old Woman Incubates" dir. G. Bral, "Feblik" dir. Lech Mackiewicz '„ Hydropolis” by Z. Miłoszewski). He gives concerts with his own piano recital. In March 2021, his debut album entitled "Before the nocturne" was released, on which, in addition to the piano, you can hear, among others: string quartet and singing by Renata Przemyk. In 2023, the premiere of "Fantasmagoria" for piano and string quartet took place. Since 2011, he has been the artistic director of the Fryderyk Chopin Music Festival in Sulechów, and in 2015/2021 he was the president of the High Mountain Club in Zielona Góra.
